In the beginning Rome was ruled in a Consul. Thats two people running Rome. The Consul was strongly influenced by the Senate. Once in the Senate theres no leaving, you are in it for life. Over to the left is a chart of Rome's government. At the top is the Consuls which are two people how run Rome. Under Consuls we got Praetor. That is the title granted by the government to people of who either is the commander of an army or a magistrate. A magistrate is a civil officer of law. Under Praetor is Aedile. That is a person who maintained public buildings and regulated public festivals. The last one at the bottom on the left side of the chart is Quaestor. A Quaestor means man who asks questions. There job was to investigate murder cases. Now lets jump to the right side of this diagram. There is the Tribune of The Plebs. That is only appointed to Plebeians and Equestrians. They may vote in the Tribune's election, allowed to sit in on all senate meetings as the people's representative, and they are empowered with the right to veto. After there six month term they automatically become a member of the Senate if they already not a member. Under The Tribune of The Plebs is Equestrian. That is horse back rider. They would be part of the calvary in the army. After that would be Plebeians. The Plebeians are the working class in Rome consisting of the poor. Now i'm going to jump the Roman Senate. It was a political institution in Ancient Rome. Under The Roman Senate is Equestrians and Plebeian. On the opposite side under The Roman Senate is Patrician. A Patrician was originally opened to elite family's in Rome. Then later is was opened to high council official.
Culture ThatRoman Culture refers to the acts: language, religion, politics, cuisine, architecture, and fashion in Rome. The four major forms of Roman arts are: architecture, painting, sculpture, and mosaic's. Roman architecture consisted of complex plumbing and drainage systems. Of the paintings that survived many of them are from Campania and Naples. Roman sculpture is very complicated because of its close relation to Greek sculpture.
